About Jaguar Land Rover
Jaguar Land Rover is a British car company owned by Tata Motors. Jaguar and Land Rover both have a large history as separate companies, of designing and releasing iconic cars. Both companies merged together through Ford in 2002. Since then, they have been very successful in the manufacturing and sales of their vehicles. Jaguar and Land Rover were also both previously part of British Leyland.
In 2008, Tata Motors purchased the Jaguar and Land Rover businesses from Ford. This meant that the Jaguar Land Rover company could be created.
Jaguar Land Rover advertised in March 2011 that over 1,500 staff members were required additionally at their plant in Halewood. They signed more than £2 billon contracts for UK companies to help with build the new Range Rover Evoque. At the end of the same year, they decided to invest £355 million in creating a new factory that would specialise in engines. This would be based near Wolverhampton. They did this so that they could develop more petrol and diesel four-cylinder engines.
